The first two ACEE science camps took place during May and September of 2007. About forty 7th graders and their teachers from the Duke School in Durham spent three days learning about the ecology of the Southern Appalachians. They performed hands-on, field oriented studies of stream ecology, forest ecology and geology. In addition, they contracted with a local company for a whitewater rafting trip. They stayed at the nearby rustic lodge, Camp Kahdalea, which normally supports summer camps for young people. If your school group is interested in this possibility, contact the director at jefrick@brevard.edu
